Nate Oats Praises Clemson, Head Coach Brad Brownell
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Nate Oats took to the podium Tuesday ahead of the Crimson Tide's meeting with 7-1 Clemson and took a moment to praise the Clemson Men's Basketball program and their head coach, Brad Brownell.
"Clemson, to me, is a little bit underrated. I don't think they quite get the national recognition they deserve," said Oats on Tuesday. "Shoot, they made it to an Elite 8, and we're lucky enough to beat them."
"They [Clemson] went 18-2 in the ACC last year, it's the most wins over three years in program history, coach Brownell has been there a long time, and he's built it up where it's one of the best programs in the ACC."
Oats touched on Alabama's struggles against the Tigers, "They beat us earlier in the year [When Alabama made the Final Four and defeated Clemson in the Elite Eight], and we've got a losing record to those guys since I've been here."
Oats has a 1-2 record against Clemson during his tenure at Alabama. The first loss came in the 2020-2021 season, 56-64 in Atlanta, and the second came in 2023-2024 in Coleman, 77-85. The Crimson Tide have a 5-8 record against Clemson all-time in Men's Basketball.
Wednesday night, Nate Oats has a chance to pull the series even while picking up the Tide's 6th win of the season.
