Auburn came out swinging with the Tigers giving Alabama’s starting pitcher Zane Adams a tough time in the first two innings, which saw Adams give up six earned runs on eight hits. Auburn’s momentum started when Designated Hitter Lucas Steele rocked a big double to bring home two runners to help propel the Tigers to a big four-run lead going into the second inning.

Adams was given his first loss of the year, with the sophomore having a 4-1 record on the season.

Alabama’s Junior Pitcher Coulson Buchanan was called up from the bullpen in the bottom of the second inning to relieve Adams. Buchanan bailed the Tide out, not allowing the Tigers to earn another run in the second inning, leaving the Butch Thompson’s squad with bases loaded to retire the inning.

Alabama failed to get anything going offensively with Auburn’s starting Pitcher Samuel Dutton not allowing a hit for the first four innings. Jason Torres almost ripped one over right field before getting robbed by the Tigers' freshman Right Fielder Bub Terrell, robbing Alabama’s third baseman of a home run.

The Crimson Tide recorded their first hit in the top of the fifth inning when left fielder Bryce Fowler knocked a two-out single to center field. Unfortunately, Rob Vaughn’s squad failed to execute with the Tigers ending the inning, forcing the Tide with one runner stranded going into the bottom of the fifth inning.

Buchanan had a nice outing until the bottom of the fifth inning, which saw the Tigers have runners on first and third base with zero outs. Redshirt sophomore Tyler Fay was called from the bullpen to come in and relieve Buchanan and attempt to pull the Tide out of the rocky situation.

Fay was able to finish out the inning, but not before the Tigers drove in three runs to give them a nine-run lead heading into the 6th inning.

Auburn continued to dominate in the sixth inning, adding one run, giving the Tigers a 10-run lead going into the seventh inning after Chase Fralick knocked an RBI double out to center field to bring home Auburn’s center fielder, Carter Bristol, home.

Alabama’s offense was unsuccessful against the Tigers' starting pitcher with Dutton holding the Tide scoreless through his seven innings pitched, where he only allowed two hits and recorded six strikeouts in the Tigers’ first shutout win since 2018. The Crimson Tide was run-ruled with both coaches agreeing to end the game in the seventh inning.

Alabama will fall to 26-5 on the season and 6-4 in SEC play, with the Tide looking to get their first win of the series Saturday with the two teams set to play a doubleheader at 2:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. at Auburn’s Plainsman Park, after game three was moved up from Sunday due to bad weather.
