Beard started his press conference by talking about how proud the head coach was of his players and that they beat an Alabama team that Beard considers "One of the best teams in the country." with the Crimson Tide currently ranked 4th in the AP top 25.

The second-year coach for the Rebels went on to talk about how far this program has come in the past two years from when Beard originally started with Ole Miss in 2023. Beard went on to discuss how he believes Ole Miss should be considered one of the top teams in the league with Beard saying "Maybe it's time to talk a little about Ole Miss." with the Rebels being one of the two only undefeated teams in SEC play with the only other team undefeated in SEC play beside the rebels is the number one ranked Auburn Tigers.

Ole Miss's second-year head coach was asked about his team making history with the Rebels getting their first victory ever on the road against an AP top 5 team which Beard responded "We didn't come here to win a game in January, we want to be one of those teams that have a chance to win six games in March."

When asked about the defensive gameplan for tonight's win against Alabama Beard mentioned that they were looking to stop the Tide from getting to the basket and instead forcing the Tide to take three-pointers in the first half while Beard said "Our first concern tonight was the dribble-drive and our second concern was the three-point shot." with the Rebels holding the Tide to shooting 25% from three and 43% from the field with Oats squad being held to their lowest scoring game of the season with the Tide only reaching 64 points tonight.

To close out Beard's press conference he touched on how impressed he was with the atmosphere of Coleman Coliseum tonight with Beard telling a story about how he remembered coming to Tuscaloosa to coach with Nick Saban for a couple of days and around the same time Nate Oats had just been hired to Alabama and Beard went on to talk about how Oats was confident in the future of this team with Beard saying "Nate was really confident with what he was gonna be able to build here so seeing the crowd tonight and what's Nate done in the last couple years here it's real."

Beard and Ole Miss will improve their record to 15-2 on the season and 4-0 in conference play. Ole Miss will prepare for their next game which will be against in-state rival Mississippi State this upcoming Saturday, January 18th, 2025 in Starkville, Mississippi at the Humphrey Coliseum.
