The Rebels dominated at the plate on Friday, with Ole Miss pitchers racking up 16 strikeouts. Starter Taylor Rabe led the way, delivering six scoreless innings while allowing only one hit, striking out 13, and walking just one. Rabe earned his fourth win of the season, improving to 4-3.

Alabama's Game Two starter, Zane Adams, delivered a strong start, allowing just one run through four innings. However, in the fifth, Adams surrendered four runs on two home runs, ending his outing. He finished with six hits, five runs, three walks, and seven strikeouts, dropping his record to 6-4 this season.

Ole Miss struck first when first baseman Will Furness drove in Judd Utermark, who had singled earlier, with a groundout to second. Right fielder Tristan Bissetta doubled to right field to set up runners on the corners, paving the way for Furness’s RBI.

The game remained scoreless until the top of the fifth, when Ole Miss scored four runs, a solo home run from shortstop Owen Paino followed by a three-run homer from Furness, giving him four RBIs and the Rebels a five-run lead heading into the bottom of the inning.

In the top of the eighth, Ole Miss extended its lead with a two-run homer over left field by catcher Austin Fawley, his 12th of the season, pushing the Rebels ahead by seven runs with two innings remaining.

Ole Miss added two more runs in the top of the ninth inning when Furness picked up his fifth RBI of the day when he knocked a sacrifice fly that brought home Dom Decker from third. Following the sac fly, Bissetta scored on a wild pitch from Connor Lehman, making it 9-0, the final score, as Alabama could not respond in the bottom half.

Alabama drops to 36-18 overall and 17-12 in SEC play. The Crimson Tide will try to clinch the series in Saturday’s rubber match, scheduled for 2 p.m. CT at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.
