Kalen DeBoer spent much of his SEC teleconference on Wednesday talking about injury updates for the Crimson Tide during Alabama's second bye week, a much needed week of rest for a banged-up roster.

DeBoer expects Alabama wide receivers Isaiah Horton and Lotzeir Brooks to be good to go for next Saturday's matchup with the LSU Tigers, who recently fired head coach Brian Kelly. The Tigers will be led by interim head coach Frank Wilson next week in Tuscaloosa.

I addition to Horton and Brooks, DeBoer provided a positive update on injured linebacker Qua Russaw. Russaw, a redshirt sophomore, suffered a broken foot during Alabama's 24-21 win over the Georgia Bulldogs in late September and has missed Alabama's games against Vanderbilt, Missouri, Tennessee, and South Carolina.

During Wednesday's SEC coaches teleconference, DeBoer provided a positive update on the third-year linebacker.

"He's doing really good," DeBoer said during his weekly SEC teleconference. "On a timetable that we had hoped, or maybe even a little bit ahead. But don't know exactly what that's going to be. We're not quite there yet. But he's making great progress. You can see just even in his face, he's feeling good about the direction it's going and can't wait to get back out there."

Russaw started three of Alabama's first four games this season and was expected to step into a bigger role in place of sixth-year linebacker Jah-Marien Latham, who suffered a season-ending injury in practice leading up to the Georgia game. After Latham and Russaw's injuries, the Tide has turned to Yhonzae Pierre for the majority of the snaps at Wolf, with freshman Justin Hill and redshirt freshman Noah Carter also receiving snaps.

Alabama will host LSU next Saturday, November 8.
