Offensive linemen are often overlooked in the world of football, but they are what separates the good teams from the great teams. The SEC has prided itself as a conference that wins the battle in the trenches, and that all starts with dominant offensive linemen.

    Arie Kouandjio

    Alabama Crimson Tide

Over the past 5 years, the Alabama dynasty has been loaded with great skill players and great defenses, but their offensive linemen are often taken for granted and aren't given due diligence. Kouandjio is the brother to former first round pick Cyrus Kouandjio, and has a similar skill set to him. Arie doesn't play left tackle, but he is a massive body at the guard position that can bulldoze his way through defenders. Run blocking is his specialty, but can keep would be rushers from flying up the middle on pass plays. And with the stable of running backs in the backfield, look for Kouandjio to get plenty of plays run to his side.

    A.J. Cann

    South Carolina Gamecocks

Cann has a team high 38 career starts, and is one of the top NFL prospects this year at the guard position. He has been a huge reason for the success of South Carolina's running attack, whether it was with Marcus Lattimore or currently with Mike Davis. He is also stout in pass protection, which will be key for Spurrier's offense this year with Dylan Thompson taking snaps from center. Keeping Thompson off of his back will allow South Carolina to control their destiny in the SEC East.

    La'El Collins

    LSU Tigers

Les Miles has a situation to deal with this season; his quarterback position is up for grabs it seems. However, his left tackle spot is firmly cemented with Collins holding down the fort. Whoever wins the quarterback job, he'll be protected on his blind side, that's a guarantee. He is slightly inexperienced, only starting in 13 games during his career, but the 6'5" 315 lb. Collins will give the Bayou Bengals a great chance at competing in the SEC West, especially with all the talent playing at defensive end that he will be going up against week in and week out.

    Reese Dismukes

    Auburn Tigers

Some professional scouts may scoff at the idea of a center being a top offensive lineman, but there's always exceptions to the rule, and Dismukes is one of those exceptions. In Gus Malzahn's run heavy system, it's imperative to have a big, athletic, and mobile offensive line. Dismukes has a tough job in leading their offensive line, especially at the pace that Malzahn wants to run, but when all is said and done, don't be shocked if Auburn, yet again, has one of the premier offensive lines in the country.

    Cedric Ogbuehi

    Texas A&M Aggies

Ogbuehi is yet another dominant offensive tackle at Texas A&M, following along the lines of current NFL players (and first round picks) Luke Joeckel and Jake Matthews at left tackle. No one is sure who will start at quarterback for the Aggies, but it's guaranteed that Ogbuehi will be protecting his backside. NFL scouts have Ogbuehi as either the number one or number two pick in next year's draft, only behind Oregon's Heisman hopeful Marcus Mariota. SEC defenses will have to gameplan accordingly in order to get to A&M's quarterback, whoever it may be, with Ogbuehi holding down the offensive line.
