The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Greene, Pickens and Sumter Counties in West Alabama until 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

The warning is tied to a system of storms that has already led to fatalities in Louisiana and some damage in Mississippi.

The warning says there is a threat of wind gusts ip to 60 miles per hour that could easily damage roofs, trees and siding in Eutaw, Livingston, Demopolis, York, Gordo and other areas in the above-listed counties.
