Now in his third season with the Lions, Williams has faced numerous obstacles that have prevented him from fully demonstrating his abilities during his first two seasons. However, the offseason brought renewed optimism, as the Lions organization expressed high expectations for him in the upcoming season.

Willams dedicated significant time to honing his skills, striving to elevate his performance for the Lions. The organization noted his substantial personal and professional growth over the past year.

General Manager Brad Holmes remarked, "he's attacking the game the way he should attack it now, like a professional. His route running and catching have both improved. He's an exciting kid to watch, and I'm expecting big things out of him this year, and I'm sure he is too."

Williams certainly lived up to those expectations against the Rams, scoring his first touchdown of the season on a 52-yard reception from quarterback Jared Goff. He finished the game with six catches for 134 yards and one touchdown.

This performance marked his first career 100-yard game, setting a new personal best. He also joined a select group of 10 receivers who averaged over 10 yards per reception, boasting an impressive average of 24.2.

Following the game, Williams was awarded the player of the game ball, a first in his football career. Despite his standout performance in Week 1, he humbly stated, "I don't plan on this being my best career game." With his determination, Lions fans may be in for an exciting season ahead.
