The roller coaster of 2020 continues. A global pandemic, the cancellation of sports, and a mask ordinance that will seemingly never end are just some of the things that we are dealing with in this great big world of ours.

While it may not be the top story in the news world, the story of the Big Ten Conference has been nothing short of an entertaining thrill ride. Aug. 11th, 2020 the Big Ten announced that they would be cancelling fall season just a few short days after releasing a conference only schedule. With an 11-3 vote to cancel the football season (as well as all fall sports), the Big Ten was firm in its plans, much to the outrage of coaches, players, parents and seemingly the entire college football community.

It has been reported this week by several media outlets that the Big Ten is possibly eyeing a new start date of Oct. 10th to begin their fall football campaign. In a statement from the conference, the Big Ten is working hard to try to make fall football a possibility.

"The Big Ten Conference and its Return To Competition Task Force, on behalf of the Big Ten Council of Presidents and Chancellors (COP/C), are exhausting every resource to help student-athletes get back to playing the sports they love at the appropriate time, and in the safest and healthiest way possible."

So that leaves the big question, what happens next? The players, coaches and the athletic directors won't have any decision or determination on what happens next for the Big Ten.

If a vote were to happen this week, it would be interesting to see the start date for these players to begin practice and preparation for the season. I believe that anything past October, would mean that any team in the Big Ten would be out of the conversation for the College Football Playoff.

In my opinion, the Big Ten is facing pressure from parents, threatening legal action if the fall season is not played. We don't have all the answers, but the entertainment from the Big Ten continues to show, the only thing that is for sure in 2020, is that nothing is for sure.
