The All England Club announced today that it would be cancelling the 2020 Wimbledon tournament due to the COVID-19 coronavirus. The last time the tournament was cancelled was 1945 for World War II.

The tournament was supposed to take place from June 29 to July 12. Wimbledon follows suit with the NCAA Tournament, the Masters Golf Tournament, the Olympics, the NHL and so much more by cancelling or altering plans because of COVID-19.

The decision to cancel came shortly after England announced its highest single day death total from COVID-19 at 563.

The French Open has already been postponed from May to late September. There has been no movement yet on the US Open which is currently scheduled for August 24. Wimbledon's cancellation is just another event gone that sows doubt in the minds of sports fans whether the fall football season will be played or not.
