Alabama Destroys No.24 Mississippi State 111-73 at Home Tuesday
Tuscaloosa, AL- The Crimson Tide mopped the floor with Mississippi State after the Crimson Tide cruise to a dominating win Tuesday night at Coleman Coliseum thanks to DOuble-Double performances by Alabama's Mark Sears (21 points, and 10 assists), and Mouhamed Dioubate (10 points, and 11 rebounds)

Alabama started this game off sloppy with the Crimson Tide starting the first six minutes of regulation with three turnovers, unfortunately for Mississippi State, they failed to take advantage of Alabama's miscues with the Bulldogs having four of their own with 11:36 left in the first half with the Crimson Tide holding a 16-9 lead thanks to a strong performance by Mouhamed Dioubate who recorded 5 points and 4 rebounds in 4 minutes coming off of the bench for the Tide in the first half.
With 9:47 remaining in the first half the Crimson Tide saw themselves leading the Bulldogs by ten points after a second chance tip dunk by Crimson Tide forward Clifford Omoruyi which made the score 21-11 after this Alabama went on a 7-0 run, ignited by a Labaron Philon made three with the Freshman guard playing terrific in his third game back in the starting lineup after coming off the bench earlier in the season after suffering an ankle injury with the Freshmen recording five points, 3 assists, and 1 steal in the first half all while playing incredible defense. Philon finished Tuesday's game with 10 points and 4 assists.
Once the Crimson Tide took a ten-point lead they continued to add to their advantage with the Tide holding a 26-point lead at halftime with the score being 53-27 at the end of the first half thanks to Alabama's incredible three-point barrage which saw the Tide make 11 shots from deep in the first half with Nate Oats squad shooting an astonishing 52% from downtown, and 51% from the field. Tuscaloosa Alabama native Chris Youngblood led the way with the transfer guard making 4 threes in the first half to go along with his 16 points. Behind Youngblood was Sears, the only other Alabama player who finished the first half in double-digits, with the Senior guard recording 12 first-half points.
The offense wasn't the only part that contributed to the Tide's 26-point halftime lead with Alabama playing some of their best defense of the season with the Tide's guards getting physical on the perimeter and staying man-to-man to their defender with Philon, Sears, and Holloway both coming away with one steal to close the first half. As a result of this dominant defensive performance, the Bulldogs finished the first half with ten turnovers, which Alabama capitalized off of with the Tide recording 13 points off turnovers.
Alabama came out of the second half continuing to dominate every aspect of Tuesday's game with the Crimson Tide running their lead up to 33 points with the Tide leading the Bulldogs 71-38 with 13:45 remaining in the 2nd half. The Tide's defense continued to make life hard for Mississippi State with Alabama forcing the Bulldogs to shoot 26% from three with the visiting team only making six shots from three-point land compared to the Tide's 22 made threes. Oats and his team also did a great job of limiting Mississippi State's Josh Hubbard who scored 38 points the last time these two teams met in Starkville on January 29th, but only finished Tuesday's game with only 15 points.
Mississippi State never had a chance in the second half with the Crimson Tide running the score up with Alabama recording eight more three-pointers in the second half with three of those coming from none other than Youngblood who finished Tuesday's game with 27 points, while shooting 7-11 from beyond the arc. In two games against the Bulldogs Youngblood has recorded 50 points while shooting 14/22 from deep.
