Alabama men's basketball guard Labaron Philon is arguably one of the best guards in the country. His return this season added a solid piece for the Crimson Tide, and the sophomore has been on fire through Alabama's first two games.

During Alabama's season opener against North Dakota State on Nov. 8, the talented guard posted 22 points. This performance helped the Crimson Tide defeat the Fighting Hawks 91-62, and Philon provided a glimpse of his shooting ability and how it could help Alabama this season.

Last Saturday, the Crimson Tide traveled to Madison Square Garden to take on then-No. 5 St. John's. In a hostile environment against a top-five opponent looking to defend its home court, Alabama needed to play with poise, score efficiently, and get its key players involved.

Alabama did just that to come away with a 103-96 victory and it was Philon who led the team in scoring with 25 points, a testament to his scoring ability and offensive attack.

His performance led him to earn SEC Player of the Week Honors by the Southeastern Conference on Monday.

The 6-foot-4, 185-pound guard from Mobile, Alabama, is on pace to have a breakout sophomore season. Philon declared for the draft in April 2025 but withdrew his name on May 28, 2025, the final deadline for prospects to withdraw to retain college eligibility.

His return to Alabama and presence on the court this season not only solidifies the team's offensive firepower but also brings a player with winning aspirations. Philon's leadership and scoring touch could be the key ingredients for another impressive season under coach Nate Oats.
