Barry Sanderson spent three seasons as the head coach of Northridge, accumulating a 73-26 record, a 2025 Class 6A Area 6 Championship, and leading the Jaguars to the Elite Eight for the first time in program history. Prior to his time at Northridge, Sanderson spent six seasons with the Tuscaloosa Academy Knights, posting a 120-36 record with two state championships and six area championships.

“Some parents didn’t like the direction of the program and voiced concerns to the administration. The administration decided to go in a different direction. I’m very appreciative that I got to coach and mentor great kids over my three years at Northridge," Coach Sanderson said in a statement to Gary Harris.

Sanderson began his coaching career under his father, Wimp Sanderson, at the University of Alabama as a student assistant. After graduating from Alabama in 1990, Sanderson was an assistant coach at Arkansas-Little Rock, East Carolina, Lipscomb, Wake Forest, and South Carolina. During his time in Columbia with the Gamecocks, Sanderson made an NCAA tournament appearance in 2004 and won back-to-back NIT Championships in 2005 and 2006.
