2024 5-Star Announces Visit to Alabama

Asa Newell, a five-star forward, has officially announced his visitation dates to Alabama. Newell is set to visit the Capstone on August 1-3. Newell is the ninth-rated recruit in the 2024 class per On3's Industry Rankings.

Alabama is Newell's third official visit. The 6-foot-9 forward has taken official visits to Indiana and Gonzaga.

The Tide offered Newell in November of 2021, becoming the Montverde Academy forward's ninth D1 offer. The Athens, Ga., native also has offers from Indiana, Baylor, Gonzaga, Kansas, Texas, Auburn, and several other Power Five programs.

"Asa Newell is a lengthy forward with a projectable frame. [...] The lefty has soft touch with range that extends beyond the three-point line, especially off the catch. [...] He is an instinctive offensive rebounder, and he is not afraid to mix it up in traffic and hunt put-back dunks. Newell will need to continue developing the right hand and progressing with his middle game." wrote On3

Newell has an 18% chance (as of July 25) to commit to Alabama per On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine. The only teams with a higher chance are Indiana (31.8%) and Newell's hometown Georgia (21%).

The high school junior has an NIL valuation of $444k according to On3 NIL Valuation.

Alabama is yet to land a commit in the 2024 class, however, big man Aiden Sherell is trending towards the Tide. Sherell is set to announce his commitment on August 13.
