Alabama Commit Ty Simpson Leads His Team to Title Game
2022 five-star quarterback, Ty Simpson, out of Westview High School in Martin, TN has put on an absolute clinic this season.
The Crimson Tide commit, through 14 games, has thrown for over 2,400 yards with 37 passing touchdowns and just four interceptions, and has lead his team to a monumental moment in program history.
Simpson has helped lead his team to 13-1 record this season, but now faces off against the Hampton Bulldogs for the Tennessee 2A state title. For the Westview Chargers, this marks just their second ever appearance in a state title game with their last coming in 2001, where they lost at the hands of Goodpasture Christian School.
Simpson has used his excellent blend of athleticism and raw quarterback instinct to pick apart opposing defenses this year, and looks to continue in the title game. Coming off of two playoff victories with a 51-18 point differential, the Chargers are playing their best ball of the year.
The exciting junior prospect is a finalist for Mr. Football in Tennessee, and is currently ranked as the third best signal caller in the 2022 class, per 247Sports. Though Alabama is set for next season at the position, Bryce Young is likely destined for the draft following 2022, leaving a hole that will need to be filled.
Jalen Milroe has already captivated Crimson Tide fans with his elite athleticism, but will Simpson be able to compete for the job in his freshman year?
If what the Martin, TN native has done in high school is any indication, the Tide are in for a heated quarterback battle heading into 2023.
