No. 8 Alabama Evens up Series with 6-5 Victory Against No. 16 Auburn
AUBURN, Ala.- Justin Lebron and the Crimson Tide dramatically take game two thanks to Alabama’s shortstop’s ninth-inning two-run homerun to propel the Tide to victory in their 6-5 win in game two of Alabama’s three-game series against the No.16 Auburn Tigers.

Alabama’s starting pitcher for game two, Riley Quick, returned to the mound after a week-long absence due to a blood blister on his finger. Despite conceding a run in the bottom of the second inning, Quick demonstrated his exceptional talent and delivered a commendable performance. The redshirt sophomore managed to allow only two earned runs and recorded three strikeouts, showcasing his dominance throughout four innings.
In the second inning, Auburn’s shortstop, Derrick Fabian, capitalized on an opportunity by hitting a grounder to left field. This play resulted in the scoring of Lucas Steele, giving the Tigers the first run of the game and a lead going into the third inning.
Alabama saw some action in the top of the third inning with the Crimson Tide’s right fielder, Kade Snell, who knocked an RBI single to left field to bring home Brady Neal and tie the game at one run. Unfortunately, the Tide wasn’t able to add any more runs in the inning, with Auburn forcing the Crimson Tide to close the inning with three base runners stranded.
Auburn added to their lead in the bottom of the third when Riley Quick threw a wild pitch over Neal’s head, which allowed Auburn’s Eric Snow to advance home. Alabama found themselves back down by one run going into the fourth inning.
Alabama responded in the top of the fourth when left fielder Bryce Fielder knocked an RBI single to bring home Garrett Staton to tie the game at two.
Going into the seventh inning, Auburn found themselves with a one-run lead until Alabama’s shortstop, Justin Lebron, singled to left center to bring home Richie Bonomolo Jr. to tie the game at three, but that wasn’t all the scoring Alabama did in the seventh with the Crimson Tide’s first baseman, Will Hodo, driving home Lebron on an RBI single down the right-field line. Alabama closed the inning with two runs, giving the Tide a 4-3 lead going into the bottom of the seventh inning.
Auburn’s Second Baseman Chris Rembert tied the game up in the bottom of the seventh inning when he launched a one-run homerun to tie the game once again going into the eighth.
The Tigers’ Cole Edwards reached home on a wild pitch to give Auburn a one-run lead heading into the final inning of game two.
Justin Lebron, Alabama’s shortstop who is currently on the midseason Golden Spikes watchlist, showed exactly why he is going to make an MLB franchise very happy in the future with the sophomore ripping a two-run home run over left field to give the Tide a one-run lead going into the bottom of the ninth with the late surge of runs being too much for the Tigers with Carson Ozmer, Alabama’s closing pitcher, taking care of the Tigers to give the Tide the 6-5 victory.
