Former Alabama cornerback Marlon Humphrey got good news yesterday. The Baltimore Ravens have decided to pick up the fifth-year option on the 2017 first round draft pick. Picking up the option ensures Humphrey will be a Raven though the 2021 season.

Humphrey was selected 16th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft and earned his first Pro Bowl and All-Pro selection in 2019. His rookie deal was a four-year contract worth $11.8 million, the fifth-year option will net him $10.2 million for the 2021 season according to overthecap.com.

In 46 games, Humphrey has secured 136 tackles, defended 40 passes, snagged seven interceptions, forced three fumbles, recovered three fumbles and returned two for touchdowns.

The Ravens will likely look to secure a long term extension with the up-and-coming cornerback, however picking up this option gives the organization more time to work out an extension. Humphrey has become a strong young piece to a team that went 14-2 but was upset in the playoffs by the Tennessee Titans.
