Bama Flips Second LSU Commit on National Signing Day
JoJo Earle, 5-star wide receiver from Aledo, Texas and top-50 player nationally according to 247Sports, flipped his commitment from the LSU Tigers to the Alabama Crimson Tide on the early National Signing Day.
Earle had been committed to Ed Orgeron's program since April. He is ranked in the 247Sports composite as the number five wide receiver in the 2021 recruiting class and the number 48 player overall. His signing brings the Crimson Tide to 20 signees on the day.
So long as Alabama retains the commitment of Agiye Hall (4-star) as expected, Nick Saban's recruiting staff will sign four of the top 10 wide receivers in the 2021 class alongside today's signees Jacorey Brooks (5-star) and Christian Leary (4-star).
Earle is the second player Alabama flipped from LSU Wednesday. Keanu Koht had been committed to LSU since July, but ultimately signed to play his collegiate ball in Tuscaloosa.
Ironically, Earle attended the same high school as Jace McClellan, who a year ago shocked the nation at the close of the early National Signing Day by flipping his years-long commitment to Oklahoma. McClellan has impressed Tide fans in mop-up duty this season, totaling 245 rushing yards and two touchdowns on just 23 attempts. Earle paid homage to his teammate by revealing an Alabama sweater under his Aledo Hoodie, similar to McClellan letterman unzip last year.
At 5'9" 170 pounds, Earle is a small, yet explosive, wide receiver. In two years at Aledo High School, Earle racked up an insane state line as a key piece in back-to-back 5A Texas State Championships in which his Bearcats suffered just one loss. Earle caught 149 passes for 2691 yards and 31 touchdowns while also adding 695 yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground in his Aledo career.
